GardnerGardner, Colorado is located in the Huerfano River Valley, nestled between the Wet Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This is the route of the famous Taos Trail, at one time the main route into the San Luis Valley. Gardner was founded along the route of the stage line from Westcliffe/Silver Cliff to Walsenburg at the foot of imposing Gardner Butte. Today, Gardner is unincorporated but has its' own school district which serves whole northern and western area of Huerfano County.
